Covid-19 Information

Latest information while Ireland is in level 5 lockdown (from 21/10/2020)…

As the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapy has stated, physiotherapy is an essential health service and is listed as such in the Government guidelines under Human Health and Social Work Activities.

This means, using the appropriate precautions, the service of Achieve Physiotherapy can continue.

(b) therapy services provided by a member of a designated profession within the meaning of section 3 of the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 (No. 27 of 2005) (this includes s91 applicants).
Its states: ‘Physical attendance at workplaces is only permitted for those providing the following services where such services can only be provided in person and cannot be delivered remotely. It does not include administrative and other support for such businesses and services unless specified in section 13 (administrative and support services) and the physical presence of a worker is required.’
In deciding which service/s are safe and viable to continue in Level 5, physiotherapists must continue to use professional and clinical judgement in continuous risk assessment and risk management of all the services they provide. Members are also advised to regularly check the ISCP www.iscp.ie and government website www.gov.ie for updates.  Please refer to the main points, helpful points and practical tips provided in V9

Members are advised to consider the following:

  • Limiting therapeutic sessions to individual (one-to-one) sessions

  • Discontinuing therapeutic class / group sessions or converting them to online

  • Using telehealth where possible for initial assessments and determining if in person treatment is necessary
